A nagypolitikától a hétköznapokig

A magyar holokauszt 70., valamint a jeruzsálemi Yad Vashem Archives magyarországi kutatásainak 20. évfordulója alkalmából 2014. május 14-15-én a Szegedi Tudományegyetemen nemzetközi tudományos konferenciát rendezett az egyetem Politológiai Tanszéke és a Szegedi Zsidó Hitközség. Az alapötlet, hogy a magyar holokauszt minden tizedik évfordulójáról nemzetközi konferencián emlékezzünk meg, Randolph L. Braham professzortól származik. Kötetünk a 60. évfordulóra megjelent könyv folytatása. 1944. május 14-én kezdődött a holokauszt történetének leggyorsabb deportálási akciója. Az Eichmann-kommandó a német megszállás után kinevezett Sztójaykormány hivatalnokai, csendőrei, rendőrei és mások segítségével közel 440 ezer zsidót vagy zsidónak minősített magyar állampolgárt deportált 147 vonattal Magyarországról hat hét alatt, többségüket Auschwitz-Birkenauba. A 70 évvel ezelőtt történtekre, ezek előzményeire és következményeire emlékeztünk-emlékeztettünk a konferenciával. Kötetünk az előadók tanulmányait tartalmazza, valamint olyan kollégák írásait, akik témája beleillik a konferencia tematikájába. FRoM HigH PoLiTicS To EVERYdAY LiFE on the 70th anniversary of the Hungarian Holocaust and the 20th anniversary of the Hungarian research of Yad Vashem Archives in Jerusalem, the department of Political Science of the University of Szeged and the Jewish community of Szeged organized a conference at the University. The initial idea was Professor Randolph L. Braham's, who had suggested that every tenth anniversary of the Hungarian Holocaust be commemorated with an international conference. The present volume is the sequel to the tome published for the 60th anniversary. The fastest deportation operation in the history of the Holocaust started on May 14, 1944. The Eichmann Kommando deported nearly 440 thousand Jewish Hungarian citizens (or Hungarian citizens regarded as Jews) from Hungary on 147 trains in six weeks, most of them to Auschwitz-Birkenau, with the assistance of the officials, gendarmes, policemen, etc. of the Sztójay government appointed after the germans had occupied Hungary. The conference was meant to be a commemoration and a reminder of the events that had taken place 70 years before. The present volume includes presentations by the participants as well as writings by colleagues whose subject fits into the topic of the conference.
